Bye, bye stress & hamster wheel - Sport & relaxation - the effective combination against stress

After a stressful day at work, simply lying down on the couch, putting your feet up and finally doing nothing - an understandable impulse, but unfortunately not very effective.

We all know it all too well: we race through the day at full throttle, juggling work, family, friends, hobbies and appointments as if by magic, and at some point we wonder why we can't switch off at all.

No matter how well we multitask between the office and our private lives and manage to juggle the daily challenges, we suffer from stress. Yes: we suffer. At least if we don't take effective steps to reduce stress.

And unfortunately, the couch is not the right solution to our problem. It's a combination of sport and targeted relaxation techniques.

Counteract stress with sport and relaxation - Sport against stress: exercise & relaxation for optimum balance.

Sport is an ideal way to reduce stress. And it's less about the type of sport and your own fitness level and more about doing sport regularly in everyday life.

This is because it is only through the high intensity of movement and muscle tension that the stress hormones released can be effectively reduced - just as nature originally intended.

However, nature also intended us to relax afterwards. After a fight or sprint, our ancestors didn't rush off to the next appointment, but did nothing at all for the time being except to rest: to relieve stress. Running to the gym during your lunch break and then rushing off to the next customer meeting is therefore not the best solution either.

Effective stress reduction: first exercise, then relax

Effective stress reduction takes place in two phases: Sport and relaxation, tension and relaxation. And this is exactly the principle Vanessa follows in her weekend workshop. Intensive movement and targeted physical exertion are followed by exercises to consciously let go of tension.

This causes something to happen in the mind and body: the brain switches from sympathetic (alarm mode) to parasympathetic (rest mode), positively stimulating hormones are released and the body, mind and soul experience much deeper relaxation than without previous stress.

What techniques and sports to combat stress?

Many relaxation techniques such as meditation and breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation or autogenic training are ideal for reducing stress after sport. Classic hatha yoga integrates physical, breathing and relaxation exercises and is therefore one of the best sports to combat stress.

Whether it's jogging or Nordic walking, classic fitness, yoga or high-intensity interval training - the choice is yours ! Almost all anti-stress sports that stimulate the cardiovascular system, work the muscles and put you in a positive frame of mind are helpful. After all, sport should not cause additional stress.
