History117 years are a good start ...

The origins of our hotel go back to 1902. At that time, Jakob and Clara Hetzel laid the foundation stone for a new recreation area in Wesel. From that time, they started offer guest from near and far a place of relaxation and conviviality.

The warmth of the family and the wonderful location of the hotel have made this place a popular meeting place for young and old over the years. On this basis, subsequent generations took over the business and continued to expand the company with a lot of diligence and the perfect feeling for guest needs.
Over the years, the infrastructure was continuously expanded by own handcraft until a spacious spa area was created.

Now, after 117 years of family tradition, the Hetzel family has withdrawn from active hotel operations with a heavy heart in order to be able to concentrate more on the family. The traditional house was handed over to the Halbersbacher hospitality group in September 2019 and thus into experienced hands. Much remains the same and yet we will keep the history of the house in honor with contemporary modernizations.

The bookThat presents our history.

On the occasion of the 115th anniversary in 2017, the chronicle of the house was published by Anno-Verlag: "Waldhotel Tannenhäuschen - 115 Jahre Geschichte(n) des Weseler Traditionshauses"  by Tim Michalak. Ingelore Hetzel, former senior manager of the hotel, remembers 70 years of hotel history that she has witnessed herself.

The chronicle, lovingly designed by the historian Tim Michalak, shows that today's hotel has little to do with the open-air restaurant which Jakob and Clara Hetzel opened in 1902. The house grew over time with the guests, and in exchange with them, the owners and employees received many impulses for changes and new perspectives. But one thing has not changed over the years: thanks to the wonderful location of the hotel, surrounded by forest and nature, in the middle of a spacious park landscape, guests can enjoy a unique atmosphere.
