A break that can make a bigger difference if you wish - Taking responsibility together

Most people who come to the Waldhotel Tannenhäuschen are looking for the same thing: peace and quiet. A moment to catch their breath. The stillness amongst the trees, the murmur of the water in the Aqua Silva Spa, the scent of fresh air in the morning. A sense of relaxation you can really feel.

And sometimes, in moments like these, the desire arises to give something back. To nature. To the world. To a place you may never visit, but which is nevertheless touched by your own decision.

That’s exactly why we’ve created a small, voluntary opportunity.

Plant a tree, straight when you book

In partnership with Click A Tree, we offer you the option to add a tree planting to your stay. It’s very straightforward, right within our online booking process — with just a few clicks, no fuss.

It’s not compulsory. It’s an invitation.

Who’s behind Click A Tree?

Click A Tree is a B Corp-certified sustainability organisation and an official UN partner that helps companies integrate environmental and social commitment into their day-to-day operations in a straightforward way. Their approach goes far beyond simply planting trees: every project combines reforestation with specific local social and environmental initiatives — transparent, traceable and designed for the long term.

The project: Mangroves in the Philippines

The tree-planting takes place as part of a mangrove project on the Philippine island of Mindanao — a place where coastal ecosystems are being gradually restored through targeted reforestation.

What makes this project special is that it combines several approaches.

  • For every mangrove tree planted, one kilogramme of marine plastic is collected from the water.
  • The collected plastic is recycled into school furniture — giving the material a new, meaningful purpose.
  • The project creates long-term employment for the local population and supports the conservation of marine biodiversity.

Reforestation, marine conservation and social impact — all part of a single approach.

If you’d like to find out more about the project and how it’s being implemented, you can find all the details directly on the Click A Tree project pages.

A voluntary addition — entirely up to you

We’d like to be honest: this option is neither a promise nor a compulsory part of the programme. It’s an opportunity — for anyone who’d like to add a small, tangible gesture to their stay.

Whether you choose to take advantage of it is, of course, entirely up to you.

Small decisions that set things in motion

It’s often the quiet moments that stay with us. A walk in the woods. A deep breath. The decision to do something good — without making a big fuss.

The voluntary tree-planting initiative fits in with this idea. It links your stay with us to a project that combines reforestation, marine conservation and social engagement. And it reminds us all that relaxation and responsibility are not a contradiction — but can complement each other quite naturally.

You’ll find the option to plant a tree directly in our online booking system at tannenhaeuschen.de. You can find out more about our partner at clickatree.com.

Hey, I'm ...

Lea, a self-confessed slow-walker who believes that the best thoughts come to her during a walk in the woods - preferably without a mobile phone, but with a notebook. When I'm not writing about wellness, cuisine and life in the Lower Rhine region, you'll probably find me in a café with far too much latte and a book I've been meaning to finish reading. Words are my craft - and the Am Tannenhäuschen is my favourite subject.
